Motive Power applications include OEM and aftermarket applications in material handling (e.g. forklifts), railway and mining markets. Energy Systems applications include broadband and telecommunications, uninterruptible power supply (UPS), power electronics, security, portable power, switchgear/utility, medical, outdoor enclosures and sports and leisure. Specialty consists of our transportation and aerospace and defense units. Transportation provides vehicle engine starting batteries and accessories for the premium segments of the truck and passenger vehicle markets. Our products include batteries, chargers, enclosures, power electronics as well as service and accessories.

EnerSys and its predecessor companies have been manufacturers of industrial batteries for over 125 years. The current company was formed in late 2000 to acquire from Yuasa Corporation (Japan) its reserve power and motive power battery businesses in North and South America. In March 2002, we acquired the Energy Storage Group of Invensys plc. We have made over 30 acquisitions since our formation, including the most recent acquisitions of NorthStar Batteries and the Alpha Group of companies in the power electronics markets.
Today, our batteries are marketed and sold principally under the PowerSafe, DataSafe, Hawker, Genesis, Odyssey, Cyclon, IRONCLAD, General Battery, Fiamm Motive Power, Oldham, Express and NexSys brands.
