Reading, PA, USA, May 23, 2006 -- EnerSys (NYSE: ENS) the world's largest manufacturer, marketer and distributor of industrial batteries, announced today that for its 4^th fiscal quarter of 2006, which ended on March 31, it expects to achieve diluted earnings per share of $0.25 per share, which represents a 14% increase compared to $0.22 per share reported for the 4^th fiscal quarter of 2005. Net sales for the 4^th fiscal quarter of 2006 are expected to be approximately $353 million, which represents a 24% increase compared to the comparable period in the prior year. The Company anticipates releasing final 4^th quarter and full year results for fiscal year 2006 on June 14, 2006.

John D. Craig, Chairman, President and CEO of EnerSys, stated, "In a period of continuing high commodity costs, especially lead, which is our largest raw material cost, I am pleased with our financial results. We continue to focus on selling price increases and continued cost reduction."
