EnerSys Reports Preliminary 4th Quarter Results & Announces Quarterly Conference Call
Reading, PA, USA, May 23, 2006 -- EnerSys (NYSE: ENS) the world's largest manufacturer, marketer and distributor of industrial batteries, announced today that for its 4th fiscal quarter of 2006, which ended on March 31, it expects to achieve diluted earnings per share of $0.25 per share, which represents a 14% increase compared to $0.22 per share reported for the 4th fiscal quarter of 2005. Net sales for the 4th fiscal quarter of 2006 are expected to be approximately $353 million, which represents a 24% increase compared to the comparable period in the prior year. The Company anticipates releasing final 4th quarter and full year results for fiscal year 2006 on June 14, 2006.
John D. Craig, Chairman, President and CEO of EnerSys, stated, "In a period of continuing high commodity costs, especially lead, which is our largest raw material cost, I am pleased with our financial results. We continue to focus on selling price increases and continued cost reduction."
EnerSys also announced that it will host a conference call to discuss the Company's fourth fiscal quarter 2006 financial results and to provide an overview of the business. The call will conclude with a question and answer session.
The call, scheduled for Thursday, June 15, at 9:00 a.m Eastern Time, will be hosted by John D. Craig, Chairman, President & Chief Executive Officer and Michael T. Philion, Executive Vice President -- Finance & Chief Financial Officer.
The call will also be Webcast on EnerSys' website. There will be a free download of a compatible media player on the company's web site at http://www.enersys.com.
